Knowing What You’re Up Against
Along with helping you register small moments of pleasure or distress in your day, the work with the pleasant and unpleasant events diary is directly relevant to reducing lingering symptoms of depression and preventing relapse.
Starting to notice thoughts and feelings that you are avoiding or not wanting to acknowledge is the first step in learning how to work more wisely with them. Just as a race car driver needs to change tires depending on whether the race track is hot or wet, knowing what you are up against can help you in choosing how best to look after yourself when challenges arise.

The first thing we’d like to tell you is that you are not alone. This is actually one of those aspects of the program that sometimes requires a little extra troubleshooting.
